5 Ways to Beat a Cold:

  1. Vitamin C- In high doses, it works to kill viruses and certain bacteria, and strengthens your immune system. It's best to load up on Vitamin C BEFORE you catch a cold or start feeling unwell. Juicing citrus fruits or taking a supplement may work. Now is the time!
  2. Elderberry- One of my favorite herbs to take before and during a cold. High in vitamin C, this herb fights bacteria and viruses very well, and also pushes out pathogens from your body by making you sweat. Elderberry herbal syrup is great for the whole family.
  3. Garlic- This lovely food also kills the bugs in your body. It's best taken in capsule form or eaten cooked with veggies.
  4. Cover up- The weather is cooler and unpredictable. Guarding your body is a must! Wear scarves, hats, jackets at all time; while outside or even under air conditioning. Also, cover your face and mouth if someone around you sneezes or coughs. Pathogens spread through the air and can easily get into your body.
  5. Keep Clean- Always wash your hands. Everything you touch has germs, and most people neglect hand-washing throughout the day. Use cleaning wipes to clean your work environment, doorknobs, car, kitchen, etc. Do this a few times a week during the winter season.

Be intentional about your health and be proactive in taking care of your body to minimize or prevent sickness.
